Just a note to let you know we were away for about two weeks. (With the security situation in this country, we don't mention things like that before going away, only after...)
So, I'm back, not going anywhere for Christmas!

Cheerio,
Chris

South Africa
I'm not an artist, I'm a journalist. I started taking photos to illustrate my articles and got interested in photography. I did a basic course and, as the saying goes, "it changed my life". Well, maybe my perspective through the viewfinder, anyway!
I also have an artistic streak, so I appreciate the great art I see here.
I really love the classics, and have been fortunate enought to have seen Michelangelo's La Pieta and Moses. Amazing!
Here I offer some of my humble efforts.

Current Residence: Pretoria, South Africa/Hungary when possible.
Favourite genre of music: Classical
Favourite style of art: Renaissance or Classical
Operating System: Yes
Skin of choice: My Own!
Favourite cartoon character: Dagwood
Personal Quote: "Political correctness is tyranny with manners." Charlton Heston.

Further to our earlier discussion.   Took me a while to check this against the handbook but here you are. Note that the bells change for the two dog watches!  Hope it travels OK.

Zoo was great thanks!

I'm sure it will.
Many thanks.

Oh dear, I couldn't open it. Don't worry, I checked with a retired navy Captain friend. So all OK.

Oh sorry about that. I couldn't attach it to the note. I need to figure out how you do these things!

No, don't worry!! Here's the link to the published story:
www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php…

Isn't that funny how we always start a reply in SA saying "no"! But it comes from this: "How are you?" "No, I'm fine", that is, "No, there's nothing wrong, I'm fine". The joys of Seff Effrican English!!

I hate to bother you but can you help me Identify the type of Truck in this Photograph? (it was taken around 1942 or 43 in Hungary or Russia)

No problem! I had a look at the main types of trucks used, and can't say what it is. What's odd is the oval shape of the grille. All the ones I saw in my reference books have rectangular-shaped grilles.
I also looked on the Internet and you might try looking at different models of the Scania Vabis. Hungary did use a lot of Swedish kit, so maybe that's it.
